This is the finale of a 6-part series where I respond to two different Leftist authors from Medium and Substack — one of whom remains loyal to the Dems, and another whom is showing positive signs of waking up. This is the second section of my response to the latter. That writer’s comment will be italicized, while everything from me won’t be.
Part 1 is here; Part 2 is here; Part 3 is here; Part 4 is here; and Part 5 is here.
Let’s finish this bad boy!
Everyone Hates DEI-Style Identity Politics — Except Democrats
Let’s talk about another major aspect of Biden’s legacy that helped him fail: liberal identity politics.
How well did insulting and demonizing men, white people, and ‘heteronormativity’ go for him, and the Democrats in general? What did they think was going to happen?
That the maligned demographics would universally cow to these flagrant forms of racism, sexism, and heterophobia and agree to the normalizing of reverse discrimination instead of taking the traditional liberal path of ending all forms of discrimination?
That the traditionally marginalized groups would find revenge & eternal resentment a better taste to their palate than full equality for everyone — which is what the majority of them always fought for — and shit all over the legacies of such revered minority figures as Martin Luther King Jr. and Harry Hay?
That all of the above would put the culturally-based politics of division and resentment above that of the material issues that are extremely important to the multitude of us who cannot earn a living in the current economy?
And our very legitimate fear of a catastrophic World War and potential nuclear exchange that the Democrats were recklessly pushing us towards?
Resentment towards demographics with immutable traits (even if they are your own) or personal religious choices is not emotionally healthy. Nor is supporting the use of reckless and ever-escalating military force across the globe. Is it any wonder that at least 71% of the working class wanted to distance themselves from such nonsense?
But Dem supporters do not think… they simply emote. And that trait deservedly sunk their ship.
Biden Solidified the Democrats as the Party of the Rich
Next, let us take a gander at something truly amazing about Biden’s four years in office:
For the first time in recent memory, the majority of those who voted for the Dems were wealthy and affluent people who earn over 100K per year, with 71% of the working class or thereabouts running to the Republicans. He, with help from his cohort & fellow corporate shill and DEI hire, helped turn the Democrats into the party of the rich! Nice one, dude (and dudette).
Biden’s Dementia Proved That the President Doesn’t Actually Make the Big Decisions
Let us not forget that Biden also has the legacy of being the only president to serve a term with dementia (though it has been claimed Reagan served his second term in the early stages of Alzheimer’s).
This silly and truly incredible fact ended up proving that he, and the very role of the President, is just a figurehead promoting the agenda of the 1%. And that the 0.1%, i.e., the uber-capitalists who run the world and donate the most money to both wings of the duopoly are actually in charge of not only American but global policy decisions. America is currently just their most useful tool for this purpose, whose vast economic and military might they gladly weaponize against the rest of the world as needed.
The DNC made a fool out of Biden and a fool out of the entire party for trying to cover that up for four years, all doing their part to keep the ruse going until they couldn’t anymore. And the Dem supporters frankly made fools of themselves for ignoring this and still promoting Biden until the DNC finally couldn’t cover up the lie any more (not that they ever could, but that debate with Trump was just too much).
Then he was ultimately ousted by them not for being a “bad” president in the eyes of capitalists & working class liberals, but for being a bad public figurehead for the capitalist class and the 100K-plus PMCs that worship them.
Biden’s legacy is nothing less than the death rattle of the Democrats. Congrats, Sir! You gave them what they so richly deserved, and your supporters helped you every step of the way. They couldn’t have carried out “The Message!” any better than they did… and that led to the election results of 2024.
One More Point I Should Respond To
He sealed his fate when it comes to his legacy when he decided to run for a second term as well, and it’s frankly impossible not to wonder where we would be right now if he had not made that decision.
Okay, let me be truly frank with the above comment from the author I’m responding to, i.e., the implication that the Democrats mighta-had-a-chance if Biden-his-time dropped out earlier and let the Cackle Queen take the reins sooner.
We would still be right where we are now, because the DNC suspended its primary for the 2024 election cycle and simply appointed another horrid corporate shill to do the bidding of the capitalist class, albeit one who some of them believed would make a better public “front man” (or, as it turned out, a “front woman”) for the donors who control both wings of the duopoly.
Harris would not have had a better chance if she started the campaign earlier because her message would still have been “The Message!” and not any type of alternative to Biden’s policies (she even said as much in an interview!). She was such a hated politician with such a poor track record that the DNC felt she could only be their front-runner in the absence of a primary election and if endorsed by a host of millionaire celebrities whom they mistakenly believed workers still treated as their idols.
Further, the DNC did everything in their power to salvage Biden for as long as they could, resulting in a humiliating, darkly hilarious, and prolonged spectacle that rightfully exposed them, and the entire system, for what it truly is.
Now that the majority of the working class has abandoned the Democrats thanks to the shenanigans of the Biden/Harris faux pas, the entirety of the Left needs to follow suit and stop promoting the Donkey party as pro-working class and some type of antidote to whatever horrors the Republicans may inflict on us.
Only we, the working class, can serve that vital role and we can only do it by abandoning the duopoly altogether. That needs to be how we move forward from this point on, as opposed to more futile attempts to salvage or “reform” the Democrats. Or throwing in with the capitalist class in general.
All very good. I couldn't agree more. I didn't vote for the uniparty either but look where we are as a country? Trump will run what's left of it the rest of the way into the ground. By the time he is finished, there won't be much left to salvage in four years. I hope I am wrong but the only out of this mess is for a complete break from the morbidly wealthy oligarchs and start over. Something akin to the French revolution of 1789. I hope it will be less bloody but nonetheless, something extremely radical in order to clean out the rats nest in the political halls of the country. I don't see any other way back from this. It's either a complete shake up or a complete economic breakdown and a dissolution of the United States as we know it now.
